Does anyone remember having plastic curtains on their windows? I was just thinking about this the other day. Each spring Mommy would paint all the iron bed steads and the edges of the floor where the 12 X 12 foot linoleum didn’t cover the whole floor with brown enamel. She would go to town and buy new plastic curtains from the dime store for all the windows. If daddy had got to work good she would order new chenille bedspreads from the Montgomery Ward catalogue where daddy had a credit. We sure thought they were pretty. We didn’t know we were “poor” back then. We lived just like everyone else did. Now, we think we have to have the latest in expensive custom made drapes and matching bed sets. I know it is an odd thing to remember with fondness but I do. It is a reminder to me that we can do with a lot less than we think we can and be happier for it!

I remember plastic curtains. We had them , too. As they used to say “We weren’t poor. We just didn’t have any money.”
